Shakshuka gourmet hot dog

4 hot dog buns
4 beer brats
1 large onion
½ cup all-Purpose Flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 large egg
¾ cup milk
Salt and pepper, to taste
Garlic powder, to taste
Oil, for frying
Lettuce leaves, shredded
Parsley, chopped

  1. Cut the onion into rings.
  2. Separate the rings. Use only large ones for this recipe.
  3. Combine the flour, baking powder, milk, egg, salt, and pepper in a medium bowl. Beat until lump-free.
  4. Coat each onion ring in the mixture, then in breadcrumbs.
  5. Fry onion rings in hot oil.
  6. Grill beer brats for 3 minutes per side.
  7. Assemble your gourmet hot dogs: fill each bun with shredded lettuce leaves, beer brat, onion rings, and a spoonful of Kémia Shakshuka.
  8. Serve and enjoy.

Additional Tips

  • Serve with some fresh seasonal salad prepared with cooked red and yellow peppers, broccoli, and fresh red onion.
  • You can drizzle each hot dog with mayonnaise, or for a healthier version with Greek yogurt.
  • After frying, place onion rings on a kitchen paper to remove the excess oil.
